This is the bottom mounting bolt for the alternator on the miata. Here I thought it was gonna be an easy out with the old and in with the new. But this bolt is FUBAR so I gotta wait on more parts to get the miata back on the road. I had the old one out in 20 minutes and spent an hour struggling with a bolt that would not go in. Now at least I know why it wouldn’t go in..
For reference of one that isn’t broken see here:
Good thing I like this car.

Might be able to get a close enough bolt from Fastenal or a similar hardware place

Dude, that looks like it got very intimate with the ugga dugga.

Yeah I figured I’d have to wait and just order one. But I might as well check the store and see if I can get something

I hate every single bolt used in the general alternator/belt tensioner area. They're all weird sizes and strip if you look at 'em

All three bolts were broken on this car somehow. I never had that problem on my other miata. Just shoddy mechanicary going on was my guess..

I have a feeling the threads that bolt go into are pretty fuckered up too.

Yup certainly are since that bolt still somehow threads into the old alternator. I have replaced that so it'll all be new now.
